Here's a toy that takes you back to your own youth, that will even bring a sparkle to the eyes of your grown children, and that will delight six-ten year olds even though they've been brought up on noisy, mechanical, TV/video/computer stuff. You can open the box, you don't need a PhD to read directions, and the game begins! True, the nok-hockey sticks are now plastic, the basic board is a tad smaller than you remember, and the puck will probably disappear in a day (hide that second puck in a place you'll remember and take up woodworking; the cost of replacements is ridiculous). It was thrilling to hear the thwack of the sticks and squeals of joy. Stick it under a bed or couch when the kids tire of it (but they won't for a while) and enjoy it - it's the simplest of games and definitely still one of the best. NOK HOCKEY PACKAGING Review date: 2008-10-28 Rating: 8 out of 10 Please be aware this package arrives with NOK HOCKEY written all over it! This was a gift for my 10 year old son for Christmas. When UPS delivered the package and my son opened the door he knew immediately what it was. One less Christmas suprise for him. Just wanted to warn other parents. fun with a simple toy Review date: 2008-08-15 Rating: 10 out of 10 when I was growing up in Brooklyn many years ago, before PC's and laptops, this was a very popular toy. For me and my sister, it still is. It's simple to use and provides a lot of fun. You don't have to plug it in, or put software in it, or worry if it's going to boot up or not. there is no batteries. my point is that it's a simple, basic toy and it's entertaining and fun to play with. It brings back memories when life was much more simple. A simple, yet really fun game! Review date: 2007-01-09 Rating: 10 out of 10 This game is really fun. Problably, the best part is that it is easy to play and there are no parts to get broken. There is no need to set anything up, just pick up the sticks set out the puck and play! This game is great for young children all the way up to adults. Not the toy you remember Review date: 2003-12-29 Rating: 4 out of 10 I don't know who's been writing the 5 star reviews for this game, however, it is not the toy you may remember. It has been considerably downsized and comes with decidedly ineffective plastic paddles both of which contribute to diminished quality of play. What has happened is the makers of this game have made it cheap(er), turning a fun, action packed real kids game into a toy for babies. Greed wins again.
